alright im not going to have a spotter, which i know is important, but i wont be able to have a consistant spotter for the most part, day in and day out.
a friend of mine told me to use no clips...
well, i personally think thats pretty f--king ballsy. and being that ill be juiced in a gym w.honestly ill be the only one in their most the time, no clips is looking like the only opinion.
there is no smith machine ither(the one that you can just twist the bar and it will be on latches.
any ideas. dumbbells i can do but i want to use a lot of the bar when im on juice.

I rarely use a spotter and use dumbbells alot because I prefer to lift alone and have never met anyone as dedicated as myself. If you do use bb, I wouldn't use the clips as your friend suggested, just the other day some jackass at my gym dumped 4 45's all over the place and the first thing he said was 'a good thing I didn't have the clips on'

Today I was doing squats and didn't have clips on, I was doing 50 reps and at around rep 30 one of the plates started sliding off. It sucked but I didn't want to stop so I just kept going. When I finished the plate on the right side was like 8 inches off. I never use spotters, no need cuz I don't like using real heavy weights, at my age gotta be careful about injury.

pound for pound dumbells give you a much better work out. Try to mix in a chest day with dumbells every now and then and you will grow bigger quicker IMO. Each rep with dumbells fires the muscle differently, promoting quicker growth.
Its not about doing your one rep max each time out. To maintain growth and break through plateaus I mix bar and dumbells about 50/50. This includes incline and decline. Oh, and I try to mix it up by doing inclines first before flat (after warm up).
Another great muscle builder is dips, and weighted dips. Not many guys at my gys do them but those of us who do are bigger than those who dont.
In my opinon to many guys come in, do flat bench with the bar, mabey do inclines, dont do declines, then call it a day. The key to growth, on cycle or off, is mixing it up, never do the same workout twice in a row, and dont be afraid to fail and force two reps with a spotter. As ironfreak said once "grow or die" or something like that. :D
I know I went off topic here but its 1:15 AM and I got up to do a protein shake:) and I said to myself "I wonder whos posted on the board".. lol
take care
