I'm a total geek. Total. I love science fiction and fantasy. I grew up on Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica. I read Starlog magazine religiously along with various sci-fi/fantasy novels. And I read comic books wishing I could have powers to be a super hero too. I played with my action figures and toys until I was 13.
I was beat up a lot in school - all schools from grade school to highschool. Hell I got beat up just about everywhere I went.
I never played any sports because I can't throw, catch or run very goos at all. I graduated highschool weighing in at 120 lbs and just shy of 5'9".
Although I took a lot of karate as a kid I still got beat up. Size does matter when you hit like a fly so I never got the confidence they claimed I would.
I didn't start lifting weights until I was 19. It was mainly the comic books and Conan novels that inspired me to start lifting. I finally said to myself, if I want to be like these guys why don't I stop wishing and start doing something about it? So I did. I took my scrawny ass into a hardcore bodybuilding gym, Spectrum Health & Fitness located in Riverside, California and signed up.
Later I built up some size, started winning fights(never started any fight - that's my #1 rule) and started building confidence. Later I discovered MMA and took it on as a hobby.
I'm still a total geek.
Anyone else here a total geek or am I the only the one?
