I need to know... unbiased feelings please... what it is about getting big that matters so much.

Size matters, right? AND I'M TALKING ABOUT THE BICEPS!!! No, really, what does gear do to you guys on the inside?

It's obvious what happens when your arms go from 16" to 19" and you bust the seams out of your shirt because your lats exploded.

But I don't understand the desire and passion that comes with it. My husband doesn't use gear for competing or showing... just cuz he can and wants to... and he keeps talking about how much bigger he can get...

Is it similar to what a woman feels when she holds her newborn child for the first time...

Is is like what you feel when you experience your first kiss or something...

I just want to know what drives you guys and maybe get a better understanding for myself... and maybe provide a little better support for my man!! ;) :p :D

I don't know what everyone else thinks but I have to think it stems from something primal like being Alpha or as close as you can...I'd rather be able to be stronger and bigger to look good and just in case someone would like to cause me or my loved ones harm...the last scenario would drive me over the edge :mad: ...but I'm happy right now :D

About the being bigger and stronger incase someone tries to harm a loved one. I am a good shot. lol So thats not why I do it.

I want to get bigger because i've always been called small, little, what ever and it doesnt help that i'm only 5'8 so i had the worst of both worlds (short and skinny...but atleast i wasnt skinny fat). Being bigger gives me more confidence and i feel better about myself, and the muscle/size helps with sports.

Bump, one of my friends said the same thing...if I had a frame like you then I wouldn't care but he juiced to get big...I'm just over six but I don't want to be over powered by some 6'4" dude ever!!!

I kinda had the same issues as baited. In high school I was 5'8" weighing in at 115lbs. Smallest guy on the football team and although I tried, I got knocked around like a mutha you know what. Personally for me weightlifting is about the only hobby I have that costs only as much as my gym fees each month and at this point it is an addiction. I must get in the gym or I will freak out like a crack head. The competitive nature of most men drive them to be the best at whatever they attemp to do, the gear will hopefully just help me to that point of being the biggest and the best ( Not in the world of course but at least in the general realm of individuals that I encounter each day. But most of all its an addiction!!!!!!!!

Going to use them because I believe i've hit a brick wall in strength and size. I've gotten pretty big over the years naturally but I set up strength and size goals years ago when I first started lifting. And only way I'm going to reach it is with the gear. And since I'm pretty big compared to most people my age, you become intimitaditing, I love it cause then stupid people dont try to start something with you, and to just look freakin good for who ever I end up dating and/or marrying. I orginally was fat throughout most of my adolescent years.

oct 29th, when i set the World Powerlifting Association world record for squat, deadlift and specifically total, completely raw when the current holder probably used suits and shirts ... and alongside my national strongman championship, I will arguably be the strongest teenager in the world ... thats why i do it.

In general, guys are just competitive by nature. They want to be the best that they can be at whatever it is that they do. Getting bigger means getting stronger. It feels good to be in the gym and know most of the people there are watching you lift. They say things like, damn he's strong or I'd like to be as big as him. Of course you also hear, I bet he's on something. Who cares! They would do it if they weren't so scared. Everyone wants to be noticed and feel like somebody. That's just the way we were built. Women are the same. They just do it in a different way. I.E. makeup, nails, boob jobs, diets & etc. :)

Depends on the person but:

- If you KNOW that you have a better physique (more muscular,more strong...BETTER BODY!) than the 99% of men you cross in the street...

- If you feel like superman, superhuman (obviously you're not...but you FEEL it)...

- If you ear a girl talking about how disgusting is a too much muscular man...and you see her 2 minutes later with a HUGE GUY...

THAT´S FUCKING GOOD FOR YOUR EGO IF YOU ARE A HUGE MAN!!! :D

I am really glad you posted this JustBecause...as a woman with a man on gear also. I try to understand the need and want for this too. Although I totally support him, I don't understand the yearning for wanting to get so big.
Not that I will lie and say I don't like the fact that my man is stacked. lol

As for all the guys responses...thanks. Quite an eye opener for men to be honest about vanity...

i do it because i want to play my position better at OLB in football i like the attention also not big on attention but it never hurt anyone and i personally like to see my self bigger i mean lifting is a great stress reducer if it wasent for working out then i would probly just rip heads off of people when i was mad

People do it because it is the best supliment invented to get big....why do guys want to be big? becuase guys are supose to be big...if you want to be small and weak if your a guy, your gay. In nature or wild animals or even humans long ago, you can only get certain privilages including "mating", if you are an alpha male, and a leader of men, all others are less atractive to the females and have less social value. Did you ever notice how all the girls like the same guy...the one that has all the girls already? they are socially pre selected by women...think of it this way, who looks more attractive the skinny guy alone in the corner or the muscular guy who walks in with 2 or 3 girls? Some one who is in controll of thier reality has higher social value too..... :confused:

...Alright enough of bill nie the science guy...It is wired from hundreds of years ago in "real mens" brains to become in controll of thier reality, being "big" puts you where you want to be, strong, healthy, with a good scence of well being, un affected by confrontation and confident in yourself in any situation... you can do this without steroids...but steroids as a supliment can get you there the most effective way, if not abused or misused...who wants to take second rate supliments when thiers first class shit availible? Guys must recognize that This is only half the battle on our road to being an "alpha male" its only the physical. But it is half the battle. Besides who doesnt want a big strong man to take care of them :p..... But guys, remember that girls find a care free, "funny" state of mind more attractive than anything else...but muscles are always a big plus....nice muscles on a guy are like nice boobs on a girl, every one has thier preference on how big they like....would you agree...um who ever started this thread...I wanted to hit on somthing I read in an earlier thread...for me,I dont lift wieghts to impress girls, I enjoy it for myself, so I get as big as I want...if some one doesnt like it, its not my problem, his or her opinion has nothing to do with me....but come on, who would you choose, a guy thats funny and a little scrawny, or a guy thats funny and has a nicey developed, Man body... lol

PS..one thing you should realize...I dont know your BF, but some people can become too "confident" or be prone to have a bad temper I know a few...and steroids could magnify this in thier personality. When your so "in controll" of things for yourself, the littlest thing that doesnt go your way might make you flip out :eek: ....I cant speak for anyone else, but I dont find it to hard to stay in controll of myself...and like to take my agression out in the gym.... or when Im bangin my girl friend,..... she likes it rough. :cool: These are only my personal opinions But I hope they might help you out.....good luck.

Bumping my Dad... I do it because im vain... im also competative so I have to be stronger and faster and better than everyone else... its nice not even trying to pick up girls and having them hit on you... definantly does alot for the good ol self-esteem

I have to agree, its all about our confidence, self image and gives a boost to our sense of self worth.

Insecurity, maybe. Some call it vanity, but that may still boil down to insecurity that's overcome by being big or whatever. A friend of mine told me once that bodybuilding is the physical manifestation of a severe character flaw...and I suppose if I had to pin it down, it's insecurity about something else.

I thought about this since it was first posted. It really made me search inside of myself. With me I think it's about being the best at something that I can possibly be. I was a jock in high school, and I also graduated third in my class so I don't think it is really insecurity. It's more a competitive kind of thing for me. Except I'm competing with my self. Whenever I try something new I always go all out. When I joined the Army after high school instead of going right to college I joined to become a Ranger. Why? To see if I could do it. The only problem with that is once I master something I get bored with it. Working out and trying to perfect my body is one of the only things that I can't truly master. It's a never ending journey and I love waking up every morning knowing that today I'm going to do a little better then I did yesterday. Don't get me wrong. It does feel good to have other people and friends comment about how good you look. But at the end of the day it's just me and the guy in the mirror. And I'm always going to try to beat that guy. God, that was cathartic. :D .
PS. Not trying to say I'm perfect. When I was a drug addict, I was trying to be the best damn drug addict I could be. To put it in perspective I guess it's just a personal quest to be a better person, physically, mentally, and morally.

Everything said in this thread has given me a higher level of respect towards my husband and his desires and I hope to support him more now than before.
