Just thought I'd throw this out there because it's something I've noticed in the past. When I'm on if I get a cold, or a cut, or even a tattoo (I'm a tattoo artist) I've noticed I have a harder time shaking the cold, or a longer time or issues healing. Does anyone know or have any ideas why this might be? Do you think it's directly from the gear or because my immune system is supressed from the hard workouts? Has anyone else noticed this? I'm fine this time but I've noticed it in the past.

Well that makes a tattoo artist and two piercers on the board. lol
I just got the whole top of my forearm done in one sit. 5 hours. I used aquaphor. It healed in 4 days.

Aquaphor? We push H20cean in our shops. I'm not crazy about it so I don't use it or recommend it to clients (at least not when the boss is around ;) ) Who supplies it? Not tryin to turn this into TattooNow forum. That's Gabe's job. :D

I hate h2ocean for tattoos and piercings. The ph balance is way off.
Aquaphor is a healing ointment you can get from like walgreens or cvs. I swear by it. If I couldnt use it I would just use aveeno non fragrance lotion. I hate h2ocean. I cant say that enough.

I'll give it a try. I keep on going back to the old super thin, sparingly used, A&D for 3 days and then lotion.(yeah, old school) How long on the Aquaphor? Oh yeah, I forgot. My original question. Why do colds take forever and I heal like s**t when I'm on.

I think a lot of the cold thing has to do with your immune system being out of whack while on gear. If you take something to boost your immune system while on gear you should be fine.
Althought I have had a runny nose for almost 10 weeks. (Must be a side)
With the aquaphor use it like you would a&d very thin. make sure it isnt soggy and use it till you start to flake the shit off. You wont even scab.

Echinacea root will boost your immune system and golden seal root is has natural antibiotics in it.
And I just so I dont have to go edit my last post on this thread. The aquaphor tricks your body into thinking it is scabbed already so it goes straight to healing.
The shit works.

H2Ocean sucks, I used it for my nipples and they got infected. My nipples swelled up like golf balls.

There is a spray you can buy for piercings called simple care spray. If you are dead set on using something I would say use it. you can get it from bodyartpro.com
HOWEVER I think that the best possible thing to use on your piercing is aveeno non fragrence bar soap twice a day and rinse well. and then just leave it the fuck alone.

The B-12 inject would help.

Salt soaks are not idiot proof. I agree that a non iodized seasalt soak is nice on a healing piercing but the solution has to be 100% perfect or it will dry out the piercing. Aveeno non-fragrance bar soap is what should be used. I have been piercing for 10 years. I have yet to find a better after care.
