anyways i was feelin really wore out and a little over trained from our football game saturday night so i just didnt feel like liftin heavy. well for the first time i jumped on 225 and tried to do as many as i could while i was fresh and hit 43 reps, all to a full lockout also. its not the greatest achievement in the world but i had to at least pat myself on the back a little :D

Holy shit! I wish I could do half that. BTW do most players on your team juice?

yeah considering i usually only do sets of 3 and really heavy doubles. my chest was literally cramping right after the set and my triceps blew up super huge. im really leanin towards doin a little bodybuilding next summer now. that pump is kinda addicting :D the shitty thing is that the next 3 sets i only got 26 reps. just couldnt lock out my freakin triceps any more.

In my book that is a lot of weight ironfreak83 LOL. I would love to get to that level. I can do it 30 times right now. Hope you don't mind me asking, what do you usually train with and what do you think your one rep max is?

i usually do a lot of metal militia's bench routines. i do sets of 3 and keep goin up 10 pounds until i cant get a full set of 3 reps anymore, then i drop down to somethin i can hit for 12-15 reps and then move on to inclines. im gettin 500 for 3 reps, and my max is right at 540. about 2 and a half months ago i hit 560 right at the end of my cycle, then i dropped down to about 515-520 after i got off. now im slowly workin my way back up to where i was thanks to a crap load of creatine. i do wanna add that i was bouncin away on my set with 225 last night but its virtually impossible to do slow and controlled reps. i think larry allen hit like 46 or somethin in the pro bowl last year so thats why decided to see how many i could actually do.

Hey cool, thanks for answerin. That's the kind of numbers I thought you'd be doin. Forty three times, I don't think anyone could criticise ya for a little bouncin. I like the powerlifting aspect of weights as well as the bodybuilding so hope you don't mind if I ask you another question. How much were you benchin before you started taking steroids?

im pretty sure i hit 475 raw before i did my first cycle. im still pretty young (23) so hopefully i can keep makin gains. as for my physical stats im 5 foot 11 and weigh about 315 right now. i dont have much definition or anything but i've got some pretty good size. next summer im gonna do my first cut cycle and do some bodybuilding the entire summer and actually watch my diet a lot better. give my joints a rest and if i can get down to like 275 i think ill look pretty huge :D ill definately be hittin you guys up for training advice though when i decide to do some bodybuilding.

Awesome. That's a lot of fn weight. I was at about 365 before for a max. It's not fantastic but not bad I guess. For a few years my training sucked and it cost me. The last 5 or so years I trained very hard though and was able to salvage a half way decent number. With perfect training all the way through I would not have been able to hit 475 though LOL. That's great. I would some day like to bench 500 raw. It will take a lot but I really wanna do it. Part of that is because when I was a kid, one of my best friends used to say he was gonna bench 500 when he grew up. He ended up killing himself, fn awful man, so part of me wants to do it for him as well as myself. Anyways, hope your training continues to kick a_s.

Hah. Just wanted to come back and say RAW. 500 RAW. Without any bs. Like today in the gym I saw these two clowns benching with huge a+s wraps around their elbows. I would imagine that would add a tremendous amount of strength to your lifts, 20-50 pounds maybe? I understand if you're injured or training with super heavy weights but these dorks only worked up to 275 for like 8 WITH the wraps. Pathetic. I've talked to em before and they're aholes.

yeah i cant stand people like that. i used to use a bench shirt but not any more. it just sucks when i show up to meets and everyone else is wearin a shirt that they're gettin 100-200 pounds extra out of. makes ya feel good when you bench more in a t shirt than what they're doin in a bench shirt though. you sound like you're actually really close to 500 and all you gotta remember is 90% of it is mental. i did read however that only 3% of the world's population can bench over 300 pounds. anything over 400 is an awesome achievement in my book, and i hope you hit that 500 really soon.

Your 5 '11 and you weight 315. If you started "body building"

Sounds like you would have to lose a heftsy amount of fat.

Good luck bro. excellent job btw.

all i can really say is that if you can convince yourself that the weight is gonna feel light in your hands, and after that the weight actually does feel light in your hands, i gaurantee you that you're gonna hit that lift. about the gettin pissed part....i usually go fuckin nuts before im gonna set a new PR. like headbuttin the fire exit door, screamin YEAH BUDDY!!!!!!!, LIGHT WEIGHT!!!!!, NO PROBLEM... then if i let out a "I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!!!" right before my lift while blastin some heavy shit in my ipod the adrenaline just kicks in. not to mention i get fuckin hardons in my sleep thinkin bout bangin out reps on some obscene amount of weight. i think im a little obssesed with the whole powerlifting and strong man thing.

im not ever gonna do any shows or anything, i'll never get even close to that lean, but i wanna see how huge and freaky i'd look if i got down to about 275 being fairly lean. but like i said im gonna be hittin you guys up for questions about bodybuilding routines and such next summer since all ive done for 6 years is powerlift. i didnt think this thread was gonna get this long lol. i was just stoked about that lift and wanted to share it with you fellow iron addicts. next feb. im settin the world record bench for the 308 junior class in the APA. when i do you can be sure that ill be postin the website to see the record :D

That's awesome. I like to go crazy when I'm going for max lifts too. I had a great group of friends when I was working in San Antonio and they liked to do the same thing. I think I was the craziest. I'd be screamin at the top of my lungs tryin to lock out a max bench. It felt cool though because I didn't care what anyone thought and that was obvious. IMO, you gotta be huge man. I mean shite, if I weighed 315 I'd look like Jabba the Hut from the old Star Wars movies. I would just want to say, be careful not to drop too much of your hard earned strength and muscle while cutting up and I'm thinkin you'll be way ahead of the game in the bodybuilding aspect of things as well.
