Has anyone ever gone to the gym with routine in mind ready to hit heavy syked up ready to go freaky crazy and when you get there every one and there mother decides to go that day. All the bench's are taken, there's four or five to a group so you can't get in with anyone, most of the dumb bells are gone, what are we suppose to do? Damn I was pissed. And to top it off most of the things are taken by some young dicks dickin around. Do you bully your way in or be a nice guy. Oh my my my.

A good way around these days is to have a small gym set up at home for back up.

Yeah, but your already there and it's a 30 minute drive through traffic. Wouldn't it be wise to just go ahead and do something, go light and lots of reps? Get in what you can because your already pissed.

Bump this!!!!!! I have a FULL gym in my house (with everything you could ever think of including one whole wall being mirrors)!!! I just went to pick up a new leg press machine today!!! The best thing about that is I have 15" speakers in my gym so the neighbors know when I'm working out!!!

well basically you don't wanna come off as a dick so just ask to work in on the bench. do it nicely and if they don't comply just fuckin take it over. i hate when you're obviously doin some heavy ass squats, got your knee wraps sittin in front of the cage, amonia capsules broken on the floor, belt hangin from the bar, looks like a chalk bomb blew up all over the place, and to top it all off you've got like 8 plates on each side of the bar and people just assume you're done since you only did a good set of 5 and just start takin off your shit. fuck that pisses me off lol. but what it comes down to about people usin equipment you need, you just gotta consider is it better to make gains and continue being a genetic freak.......or is it better to work around the people who are probally lifting as a hobby. definately better to piss em off so you can at least maintain the freak status you've worked so hard for over the years.

The gym I go to is now full of summer pretenders. There in there grunting like they are slinging some heavy ass steel and dickin around with the chicks. Fortunately I'm bigger than most of these pretenders so when I catch one of them baby sittin an area that I need to get into I'll ask nicely usually that's enough to let them know their times up. But if they answer that "I could work in with them" I'll pile on the plates for my sets and have their asses taken it off for their sets. Like all the bros. on this board liftin is a way of life not some f-en summer hobby. It's gotten to the point that I hit the gym in morning to avoid the crowds.

hey bro...i look at it like this. most of the guys at the gym can be put into three categories. 1. fitness lifter-there just to stay in shape. 2. wannabes
3. the real lifter. from what i have see at the gym, most people are pretty cool about letting a real bb use the equipment. Most of the time there are just using the benches to sit on or use as a desk so they can show everybody what muscle mag they are reading..dorks. be cool and get your workout in. peace.

yeah I know exactly what you mean. I keep a training journal. Have since 1981. I use to write down what I wanted to do the night before. But now I just write my workout down as I go. But I still have in my mind what I want to do as far as exercises go. And I still have to change for the exact reason you just said. Some dumbass will do a set then talk with his or her buddy or some times it seems like they want to talk a nap between sets. And to top that off that want to make smartass comments like wow I wish I knew what you were taking so I could get big like you......and I'll reply with hard work got me where I am at today..........but you can see in there face they don't have a clue about what I am talking about. Its all in the gear..........Yeah sure it is.

Dude, this is the line, first ask how many sets ya got left. Then "if" they reply with more than you would be willing to wait for, then ask if you can work in. They usually just go some where else. :D

Just drink a couple protein drinks and let a couple lose next to the equipment you want to use, works for me, they get up and move to the other side of the gym :p :D

we have this idiot in our gym that brings his spoiled fucking kid with him, he says he does not have a sitter, the kid runs around, and has a habit of pulling pins in the machines, he thinks its funny, he about got his ass kicked the other day, a guy was doin some heavy weight, and this kid decided to start screaming, so now when the guy does it, we take over his bench, and in our own little way of telling him to leave, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU BRING A 10 YEAR OLD TO THE GYM WITH YOU, and to top it off hes good friends with the owner.

the owner is good friends with him, we have said something, but he still shows up, today the kid had to sit behind the counter with the girl, hopefully the problem was solved, but this is not the first time this has happened, and the moron that has the kid is a complete dick, never wipes down the equipment after he uses it, we went off on him the other day, the guy stunk, and he was sweating all over the ab crunch machine, real fucking loser, know what i mean.

i know exactly what you're talkin about river rat. it's funny how people think that if they started juicin they'd immediately look like coleman. when in reality all it does is allow you to work harder but people seem to think it's a freakin miracle pill. im not even on gear right now but just thinkin bout it makes me wanna blow their jaw out the side of their head with a right hook lol.

There are no body builders at my gym.. mostly fat women. I'm a football player and I'm one of the biggest dudes there. If I wanna do bench press, I do bench press. I'm not a dick about it, I just try to psyche 'em out. I'll walk in all pissed off, put my bag down in the corner and put my headphones on. I don't say anything, I just stare. Then I sit in the corner with my back to them and start talking to myself. I'll pace back and forth and just say absurd shit. Then I rip my shirt off and start yelling.. not at them, just in the mirror. After a couple minutes they usually leave. If not I stop yelling, put my shirt back on, and kindly ask how many sets they have left. If they haven't left already, they will.

The gym has different purposes for different people. Some people go to get bigger/stronger, some people go to lose weight, some people go to stay in shape, some people go b/c they are older and need something to do, and some people even go for the social environment. There is actually a guy at my gym, I'd say he's 28ish, and he had a nervous breakdown so he comes to the gym to hang out with familiar people. He's one of the nicest guys you'll meet and always willing to help anyway he can. He isn't big, he's not that strong, and doesnt train that hard, but it doesnt mean he doesnt pay his dues and can't be there. Just because people aren't training as hard as you, does not mean they do not deserve to use the equipment. If it is that cumbersome to wait your turn, find a 24/7 gym and go between 1-4am like i do. :)

PS. and to answer your question --- high reps w/ low weight is for women, pussies and warmups :) ALWAYS go heavy!

Nice one! Perfect post. I do the same 24/7 between 1 and 4pm, but at mine 4 is really pushing it. I'm sure you push way more weight though. :D
