Hello, new to the board. I have a question for you folks. I am a 42 yr old retired powerlifter. I am 5'10" and weigh 270 lbs. I am currently at 16% BF, I am looking to reduce my weight to 230 lbs too be healthier as well as to finally see my abs again (been 10 yr's). I don't want to lose all my muscle, so I was thinking of 250mg sust and 200mg deca wkly until I hit my weight. I have high bp so I can't use tren.
I have been natural for the last 4 years and have just maintained my size and power. (can still bench 500+ raw and squat 600+). I know I will lose strength but my goals have changed and am looking to get lean (8% bf).
I am going to eat clean and do 45 min cardio (HIIT) 5x/weekly.
Thanks for any and all help.

Mike - After all those year of power-lifting, and eating like a power-lifter, why not just turn to diet and HIIT? I would get my diet clean and gradually work my way to 10-12% before I went anywhere near gear. At 16% and 230lbs, you could do it clean (10%)in 12 week or less.. I would say less considering you have never geared yourself towards cutting, the fat should come off with the LBM you have.
I recommend you use the discipline that got you to where you are today to get you where you want to be tomorrow.
Then hit the gear.
My two cents.

^^^ Agreed, 100%
I can't imagine how high reps, moderate weights won't work wonders

Ok, so you think maybe I should hold off on any gear for now. Ustilize a good diet and cardio to get to around 10% BF and then make an informed decision on what happens next. That actually sounds like a good idea.
I just started on Sat to reduce and am already down from 270 to 266 in 4 days. Those salads are soo filling...LOL....anyways...what should be a good goal for weekly weight loss? (3-5 lbs) or more?
I don't have experience cutting....so if I over cut I should be able to put the muscle back on without the fat fairly quickly on a small cycle and muscle memory right? or am I off in my thinking?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike. You are spot on. I let myself fall down bad and just recovered after about 10 months (dropped from 27%). With your experience (physical and mental) you will have no problem dropping a pound of fat a week with a diet in place. Basically if you eat 300 cals a day less that your BMR, your HIIT will clean up the rest. Going on the "3500 cals equal 1 pound of fat" thought, your body will literally eat that fat away in no time.
This board is amazing, everyone is VERY helpful for people that take the right steps to educate, protect, and grow themselves. Keep reporting back on your progress and when you hit 10/12%, we'll jump at the chance to help you with a return cycle.
Post some pics too! OJS is about your age and looks like a friggen tank! Would be interesting to see if he has a twin out there somewhere.

Finished my first full week of clean eating and cardio. Lost 7 lbs ....from 270 to 263, not a bad start. I have also moved my rep range into the 8-12 range from the 3-6 range and lightened up the poundage a bit. My joints are definitely thankful. I am finding that my knees can't take the pounding daily of the HIIT on the treadmil like I wanted to do (probably being 263 isn't helping any). I am now moving to the following HIIT on Mon/Wed/Fri (45 min) and fast walking on Tue/Thur/Sat for 60 min.
I am thinking the weight loss will slow to more like 3-4 lbs weekly from here on out. If not should I increase calories? More protein? I am currently getting about 350 gr protein daily.
Only taking multi vit and whey protein for supps, any good fat burners that don't effect bp?
