Due to some people who wanted to be sneaky and play unfairly I yanked the contest down.

As I stated in the other thread, I think it should be up to the Alin & the mods to decide who gets the winning package each month. We could vote silently in the admin forum. Although, I'll vote out loud right now and say Static deserves it for his knowledge of the sport and for being an avid poster and good asset to this forum. That is unless he has already won the contest in the past.

You are right. He always helps a lot of people even if the question is something easy to look up and search. He has always responded to my PM's quickly and helpfully. Not trying to kiss ass but he is one of the few that deserves it. There should be another thing on this board like Bro of the week and Tool of the week or just bro of the week.

Static really is a great guy and has done alot to help noobs at this joint and his avatars alone are worth a cycle for free.

It seemed aweful strange that 3 or 4 brand new people ( that day ) post for the contest. All about 10 minutes apart from each other!!!

Any ideas of how a fair contest could be ran? ( NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST !! I hate boards / contest where the same 4 people benefit over and over again)

People were signing up for multiple accounts, like 10-15 acounts and stating different numbers with each account.

Is this true? I only have one account, and only a couple of posts. I just don't post on these boards that frequently; actually I don't post on any boards very often. I prefer to read and learn and usually don't feel like I have much to offer. Also I don't usually ask many questions because the search function takes care of most of my questions. But when I got an email from the admin telling me about the contest, I thought "why not?" I hope I wasn't one of the people that ruined the contest for everyone else.

maybe there's a way that alin could make it so it only allows one vote per ip address. i know people could still cheat that way but it would make it harder at least. or you need so many post and must be a member for so long before you can enter the contest. i hate assholes that have to ruin a good thing.

I have a couple of (random thought) ideas...

Alin could take all of the names of the people who have purchased from him in the last 6 months or year or whatever and put them in a hat and draw for a winner. Or maybe do the same thing with registered users, here at "The Board" Alin and the other mod's could easily filter out the duplicates and then draw for a winner. We all know Alin is as honest as the day is long, so nobody should feel cheated.

Or you could just do what Spoony suggest until people get the hint that we want this an honest and trustworthy type of place. We have to be able to trust the people giving advice and referrals or what's the point!

yeah I always seem to miss them too. That sucks people would take advantage of Alin's generous offer. Who else on the boards would give away $500 of product...but Alin ;)
