You dont want To mess with nubain then, Ive seen that stuff Ruin some good friends. My advise would be go your local Dr if its that bad.
Goodluck.
If its your Joints you may want to look into the Aflutop That Kawasaki Mentioned. I dont know a lot about it myself But I beleive thats exactly what its made for. I dont beleive its a "painkiller' though.

Glutocosamine is good for joint pain. It gives relief and you can buy it over the counter. It is not a narcotic. Don't know if I spelled it correctly but I know lots of guys who use it.

Get em out. It's worth it. They should have to tear any tissue, and you'll be glad you had it done. I've had bone shards from crashing motorcyles and doing just about every stupid extreme sport there was. Once they removed them I felt like a new man. I still have one I have to get out of my elbow, can't wait for that one. I can lean on my elbow because it feels like it is cutting through my skin. I can feel it floating around. But for real they should be able to do what they did with me and go in orthoscopically and pull them out. If they say they have to cut you wide open, get a second opinion. They will more than likely cause more damage to your shoulder throughout your life if you don't.

Yeah, get them out if you can. I used to have a bit of a temper and a guy and I got locked up and both of us went through the window of a bar. I still have glass coming out of the side of my head where my pop stitched me up. But I'm not bitter...
That was some years ago too! Did this thread change topic?

the pain in my shoulder was never that bad but since i quit my partying and got serious about lifting and eating right it has really hindered my workout...i cant do military presses or incline benches w/out agonizing pain...i can hear and def. feel grinding in the joint. i guess ill go through w/ the opp but im still a little apprehensive

Get it done regardless. It's just a matter of time before it gets worse. My bone fragments had a chance to disolve but I still got them out. Glass isn't going anywhere. In 60,000 years, it will still be glass.
Also, what gear are you on if any? Hopefully you are not on Winny, because that will make it even worse. The problem with your situation is that if you do take something to make it feel better, it is just a mask of the pain. Which means that the glass will still be chewing away at bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and muscle even though you don't feel it. So take some Deca and some Aflutop to take the pain away, and I guarantee you are going to make it worse and probably have a hard time lifting a pencil once their esters wear off. Good luck on your surgery, because you have no choice in my opinion.
