injection site leakage

So recently my injections have been leaking out like crazy, and i'm really not sure why. I don't think anything has changed in my technique. Today when I pinned I left the needle in for 20 seconds after i was done injecting and when I pulled out what looked like half a cc poured out mixed with a little blood.

I'm pinning delts with a 25g 1in needle. Could I be tensing up during my injects and the oil doesn't dispurse as well? Any tips / hints as to why it started doing this would be awesome.

I don't time it exactly, but I have music playing while I'm doing it and I'd say usually like about halfway through a song, so 1.5-2 mins for 1cc. I think i'm tensing up or something. I tried really hard not to tense today. Other than the leakage it was an awesome injection...no pain. I can usually tell if they're gonna swell up by how it feels a few hours after the injection and right now i can't even tell i pinned my left delt today so I don't think it's gonna swell at all.

you gotta rotate sites bro.... do you pin quads?

i alternate delts and quads.... make sure you use a long enough needle when pinning quads and shot slow.

you can also use a cotton swab and apply light pressure to site for 5min.... and dont move your arm around.

Pin quads, pin slower and leave the needle in longer. Then pull it out slowly and hold some cotton swab over it and it should be ok.

z track works but you can't do it to yourself on delt shots... at least i can't. good for quads though

depending on how flexible you are you can use it on your glutes as well. and in delts with a little practice you can pull with your pinky while holding the pin in the other fingers.

I'm gonna try to pin quads next time. *gulp* I only tried once and before the needle was even 1/2in into my leg I felt sharp pain and pulled it out...it spurted blood pretty good. I was pinning outer quad and I think i hit a blood vessel. Anyways after my first successful quad inject I'll try z-tracking w/ the quads.

i searched it and found many references. it is when you move the skin to one side then inject, when you remove the pin let go if the skin and it covers the hole.

you should just pin elsewhere. whats wrong with your lats, front delts, rear delts, pecs, inner quads, outer quads, glutes, etc. there are many reasonable places to pin!

What is the purpose of injecting .3 to .5mL of air with the oil? I was under the impression you shouldn't have any air in the needle prior to injecting.

It more or less closes the hole. I can't explain it - but if you have ever had IM from a nurse or professional - they almost always shoot .25 air in following the compound. I've had them tell me it was to get the last out of the needle but I don't think that is the intent personally. Z tracking is the best IMO for a clean inject. I had an IM done recently of some demeral and the nurse waited like maybe 5-6 seconds after pushing the med in to push the air in. Absolutely clean - not even a spec of blood. She also noticed alot of scar tissue of my R Delt - and asked me what it was from. UHHHH - DONT KNOW

z traking is alittle uncomfortable for me. I inject alittle air bubble after the compound and it works wonders. it forms an air lock and closes the hole or something like that. It could also be your tensing your muscle as you inject and pull out, that will cause leaking. Also injecting to fast.

YOUR not injecting deep eneough IM. Try 1.5" pins
