A few years ago I knew a guy at the gym that got an abscess in his quad. I don't know if it was from contaminated chemicals or what? But anyway he showed us what it looked liked before he went in to have it cleaned out, and let me tell you it was nasty:(. A couple of weeks later he came back into the gym to see everybody, and he showed us what it looked like after having it cleaned, just as nasty if not more so. ever since then I've been the biggest pussy about pinning my quads. A mental thing I guess. I'm to the point now where I need to start pinning my quads, I've been pinning glute, delts, and lats. I checked out the how to do injections so I would know where to place the pin and it showed the outer quad and the teardrop. Some people have told me to pin between the muscle groups, is this accurate or do I pin directly in the outer quad and teardrop?

any advice you guys could give would be very helpful.
Don't flame me too bad for being a big puss:D

Abscess is caused by contamination. I know people who had abscess in shoulders, glutes due to unhygienic approach when jabbing.
I use my quads too, to jab. I would go into the outter sweep. Devide the quads into 4 parts, and jab in the middle of the top outer part. Some suggest to jab at a 45 degree angle , but I would do pependicular to the skin.Wash your hands and use one needle to draw and a new one to jab. Clean the site you jab,and you can also clean the amp before breaking it. You should be safe.

You wont get an abscess if everything is clean..wash the area with warm water and soap, then an alcohol swab.upper outer quad is best...

I agree with steak. Pin the outter top part. you won't get an infection if everything is sterile.

Quad shots are all I do when I have to do them by myself. My girl pins my ass and delts. They are very easy. Pin the outside quad mainly. I tried the teardrop twice and drew blood when I aspirated both times. I think there are more large blood vessels there than outside. You may hit a nerve from time to time, and sometimes they hurt for a day or two, but they are very easy. I would'nt be afraid at all. Just make sure to use proper, sterile protocol. The reason your buddy got an abcess is probably poor sterility, or like you said bad gear.

Ditto all this...I'm on my 4th cycle and only do quad shots, I can't reach my ass without the needle going all over the place....quads I can sit down and sit still.

i love quad shots... i have no prob holding 3ml in each quad... although i usually only do 2ml... slow and steady, not telling anyone else to put 3ml in ur quad, but i feel very comfortable with that.. no need to stretch.. just clean and poke..

I checked out the site, and I have to say that Thigh series# 1,wtf. The pin goes into TFL, right into the side of quad. Thats a tendon.

yeah, I don't know about taking it from the side like that. I'll go from the top.

When you do a quad shot hit it at about 45'(1:30), right in the middle of the linear aspect of your leg. There is a large tendon called the illiotibial tract that will create a lot of resistance for your pin if your get around 75-90'. Do not do the teardrop. There are too many blood vessels in that area.

The only guy I know personally that's had an abscess got it in the butt. You can get it anywhere you pin.
