I'm pretty sure soy protein is pretty low on the BVR (biological value rating) scale, like around 79 where as whey is between 105-150 depending on the brand and eggs are at 100. I don't think a little will hurt you but I wouldn't use it as your primary protein source and I wouldn't use it post workout either, just my 2 cents.

Bump that, not assimilated very well. And too much soy can lead to some thyroid dysfunction. Get your whey isolate and use both.

I wish to amend that last statement. Upon further review, I'm an idiot:

. Men have very few estrogen receptors to begin with and even those would be filled by 10 - 15 lbs of excess body fat. Soya protien also helps keep the thyroid elevated so it would be beneficial for cutting.

2. Soy may actually inhibit estrogen because it fills the receptors and takes the place of actual estrogen which is allegedly more potent

3. Soy contains all the essential amino acids and has been shown to lower bad cholestrol.

4. Despite that, more study is required on megadoses of soy isoflavone extracts which are available in pill form - until that is done, I'd stick to soy based foods and not pills.

Thats some interesting stats on on soy, I still believe a blend of casein and whey is best though

Theres so many little things that you pick up along the way and treat as gospel with out ever researching it yourself. i know I've done it a million times. I did a quick search on soy and got all that after thinking soy could potentially be bad for you for many years. i still feel it is an inferior protein when compared to whey, but I will certainly take a closer look at it now as a supplemental protein source.

I doubt you'll get the same results! If you got that one then get some whey to go with it...

When I was really into body building totally natural back in the mid to late 80's and early 90's I ate more meat, eggs and protein shakes than I have since then. :)

I didn't use any gear because I knew too many guys who juiced and had horrible sides. Mainly because PCT was not really a consideration and their usage wasn't what I'd call "responsible".

I've since learned I did the right thing because the knowledge they had about AAS was horrible and with no PCT I would have been really screwed up down the road.

my step father had to go to the doctor for taking in too much soy in his diet.... he totally depleted the testostrone in his body and the doctor had to give him mega doses of testosterone to make him feel human again.... needless to say men shouldnt have a lot of soy in their diets.
