I am interested in getting it done to see how my levels are. For those of you who have done it, I have some questions.
Do I go to my primary care and ask him, if so what do I tell/ask him?
I don't want steroid use on my medical records. Is it avoidable?
any input is appreciated.
Thanks

I was up front with my doc and told him that I wanted blood test I told you don't have to agree with my decision on what I do but You could at least help me make sure I don't do permenant damage to myself he agree and steroid use was not put on record just the testing was If you have a good relationship with your doc there usually isn't much problems

We go to our family doc, but he knows everything we do anyway. They normally want to know WHY you want it done... especially if it for your cholesterol, then you will need to fast for 12 hour prior.

If you are not comfortable with telling the doctor what you do, just indicate that you can control the outside but need him to monitor your insides and you want to be healthy!! They won't check your testosterone unless you tell them to do it.

Just ask for CBC with cholesterol and triglycerides and testosterone...

And if they want to know more... tell them JustBecause!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most insurances cover the test anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue:)

I told my doc I was conserned about my cholesterol levels due to my diet being high in eggs and red meat. I told her I would just like to make sure I am healthy and everything is in check before i continue on with this diet. I also told her I had been feeling down, with a lack of libido and energy and would like to have my test levels checked while we are taking blood. I got alittle grief for the test because of my age but everything was checked anyway.

just ask him for full blood work there are sites where you can compare your results to the norm and you could diagnose yourself thats what i did. but i believe it is best to be upfront with your GP and tell him/her

My Doc. knows everything i do. We keep it off the record and discuss it somewhat cryptically as he says he is "contractually obligated" to be on the Con side of the issue. Still I have my blood done every 3 months to monitor my cholesterol" due to my family history wink wink;). he's great about the whole thing.
