My new grilfriend is real religious and wants me to give up all type of meat up for lent  . How in the hell do I manage to keep up my protein intake guys. I know I can use shakes but it won't replace real food. Any advice would be great.

You can get it with soy and dairy products. However I'm confused as to what type of religion is against meat. Sounds weird to me, maybe you should dump her.

Dude I used to be married to a real religious woman.. She was a great person, but when she started to try to push her beliefs on me, that is when we started to have problems... Man, if you are currently on (cycle), then it is up to you to do what is more important...

IMO stay away from soy protein... Eat alot of cottage cheese, eggs/whites, fish.. I don't know if that will be count, and up your carbs to maintain or gain weight if that is what your goals are ..Try to stay away from having to drink more than 3 protein shakes if possible, but mix in a good Meal-Replacement drink or weight gainer.... That is if you want to keep your calories up until your 40 day's of lent are over !

fish? Eggs..beans...
Agreed^

Also, you may have to start drinking a bit more of your protein then you normally do by way of more shakes per day...milk is something you could add as well.

Question, I'm not Catholic, but from what I gather Lent doesn't require you to give up meat, but something that is important to you, something that is part of your everyday life. Could you not pick something else to give up for lent, something that wouldn't interfere with your training and goals?

Ya, you can pick what you want to give up but she has me doing this to show a good example for the my son and her daughter. I am concerned about not consuming enough protein during pct and to just waste what I gained on cycle. No fish guys!

Well, it looks like eggs, milk and shakes are going to be your best friend.

How long does this last?

I'm Catholic (not really practicing) and I went a catholic grade school. If I remember correctly lent is 40 days and 40 nights. That's gonna tough to do to maintain mass. Stick w/ eggs, beans, shakes, and more eggs are your best bets (your farts are gonna smell pretty rotten w/ all the eggs). Have fun bro.

I believe Lent starts this Wed and you can't have meat on [ash wed] or any Friday in lent. The other days of lent meat is good to go!
Fish & eggs on Fridays for me for 40 days...not so bad!

I think it's ridiculous for somebody to ask you to give up something as natural as meat for lent. You're going to spend a fortune on MRP's and powders to keep up your calories and protein. If I'm not mistaken, eggs and definitely fish both count as meat. Without eggs, you're screwed. You could spend all your money on mrp's and powders and maltodextrin, but that's pretty stupid. If she's so religious, quote this for her:

Romans 14:2 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

2 "One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables."

I just went to yahoo and looked for an online concordance and searched for vegetarian and that's what I found. Vegetarians have weak faith, tell her that---it's what the bible says in Romans 14:2. No offense, Hooker, just trying to help the guy out. I found that on www.biblegateway.com. Also on there--fish and eggs are meat. If she's so religious, surely she won't argue with the bible, so there you go.

Let's not turn this into a religious issue because any "religious" person would know that having a girlfriend/boyfriend is a sin to begin with because of the fornication involved, if he is following the religion with his girlfriend then maybe he can compromise his cycle alittle bit I've never seen the point in just giving up meat if they were Muslim he would have to give up food from sunup to sunset, try that while being on a cycle. If he's not following with her then... my advice is what she doesnt know wont hurt her.

Ya, it is a real bummer. I will try to compromise with her tonight and see what we can agree on. It is only 40 days I guess, nothing as harsh as muslim's tradition. How bad would it be only to consume milk and protein shakes rather than protein from real food? I am not a frim believer at that.

Praise the lord, she changed her mind :D ! We had a resolution to my problem and we decided to just give up any type of drink of soft drink. Shit I don't even drink soft drinks so bummer on her and the kids.

I think we all know who wears the pants in this relationship :D . C'mon dogg man up! I think she should compromise also. Maybe U could work out some sort of deal like U can eat meat every other day or something. I know that relationships require sacrifice somtimes but it's a two way street ya know.

It's not so bad. I've been a vegetarian for 8 years now. While gaining mass might be a little difficult, it's not as hard as some would make it out to be. My protein comes primarily from milk, egg whites, and soy. I buy filtered egg whites by the gallon and commercial vegetarian food is actually very good these days. My wife isn't a vegie and she almost never eats meat anymore unless we go to a restaurant.

I recommend Hormel's vegetarian chile, 24g pro - 2g fat - 78g carbs - 22g fiber
also Boca bratwurst are tasty, 14g pro - 7g fat - 6g carbs - 1g fiber.

Good luck.

havent you vegetarians heard of the least harm principle ... more animals are killed catering to your "soy" diets than in slaughter houses ... if you want me to go on about this, I'll bring up the sources.
