My dermatologist just prescribed me this stuff called Doxycycl HYC 100mg, to clear up this rash i have around my eyes. He said the rash was caused by using too oily of skin products...sunscreen. I had my first dose of skin cancer three years ago and since then have used sunscreen religiously. Who would have ever thought taking preventative measures would cause more problems. I was told to drink plenty of water with this medication, so i'm waiting until the end of the week to start it after my a-bombs run out...no since in putting more stress on the liver. So i was just wondering if anyone of you have ever heard anything about this med. ?

If your talking about Doxycycline yes Ive used it in combonation with Retin-A. Worked for me, I applied twice a day then the Retin-A just before bed.

If you're referring to doxycycline then its a broad spectrum anti-biotic. Its used to treat lots of conditions and most of us would have probably been prescribed it at some stage in our life. Its used to treat acne as well and I guess for other bacterial skin conditions. Drinking lots of water will most likely prevent somes sides like stomach upset & headache.

Dude, holy shit you had skin cancer. How far advanced was it, obviously you caught it in time. How did you treat it? Recently here in Melbourne there was a girl who had skin cancer which developed from use in solarium's (sunbeds). She was all over the news. Just reaching her 21st birthday and then passing away. Tragic.

It happened to my cousin she died at 20.

Does your doc know about your sensitivity to sunlight?

I'm pretty sure doxycycline makes you more suseptible to getting sunburn.

Have you tried using an oil-free sunscreen for your face?

If it's causing stomach issues, take it with food. When I took it, and forgot to take with food, I'd puke my guts out.

Your cousin died of skin cancer, or it spread to some other part and she died? Either way I'm sorry for your loss but I've never heard of anyone dying from skin cancer alone. Sounds like a nasty way to die......
