Can someone give a quick 101 class on this. I have seen a few questions around it and I want to make sure I am doing things right.

nothing to it, after youve stuck your needle in, pull back on the plunger ever so slightly to just see a few bubbles come into the syringe. when you let go, the bubbles go back in (its like a suction) then go ahead and inject. when you aspirate if you see blood coming into your gear then pull out the needle, dont worry about trying to squeeze it out, its your blood! if you have a spare needle which you should, go ahead and put it on the syringe and go to another spot

Well, I'm glad I asked... Apparently it's not what I thought it was.

So your saying pull the plunger back slightly before injecting? and if you see blood come into the syringe, pull out and restick with a fresh needle.

What is the downside of not doing this? What is the negative sideaffect of just sticking and injecting?

if you just stick and shoot you may hit a nerve or vein and that will not be fun. you may pass out. get sick feeling in your stomach. feel faint. and you dont want that. trust me.. this way if you aspirate and see blood you know your in a vein instead of the muscle. pull out and hit those muscle nice and deep

i remember once i must have clearly just passed right through a vein but still got the tip of the needle in muscle cus when i aspirated it was clean but after pulling the needle out a rush a dark muscle blood came out

using a 1.5 needle, is the risk of hitting a vein or nerve less?

...less than 1? not sure. ive hit a nerve before, not so much painfull but more of an involuntary glute/leg twich
