View Full Version : Ab reply
I was rudely criticized for suggesting to someone to train abdominals for 6 days a week. It was a gross error to even suggest to another to follow my daily plan of doing a least four different ab exercises daily. This has been working for me. I didn't know this forum had "actual professionals, instructors, and physiologists on its staff! Maybe even a few scholars and professors out to taint and torment any that steps out of the ordinary.
So I'm going to keep stepping to my own beat. Egoists and egomaniacs need
not reply because there will be only more criticism and derision.

I do abs 3 times a week. You use your abs so much in normal activity that even 3 times a day might be to much but it seems to work well for me.

People on this board may come across a bit abrasive at times, but it's all advice that you recieve. It's all about finding your niche; see what makes your own body respond, and manipulate that if need be to achieve your desired results. It does take a little time to do this though.

BOLD 1:
No.
You are wrong again.
You were criticized to post wrong "advices" as usual.
We only flame you when you can lead to a mistake/damage to other members with your "advices".
Personally i have nothing against you.
I'm only against lies and stupidities posted who can damages members health/goals.
BOLD 2:
Great!
If you do this way, there will be 2 good consequences:
1 - Newbies will be free from the possible damage of your "advices".
2 - Vets will not need to flame you again, specially the "egoists and egomaniacs" ones:rolleyes:
It seems you need more explanation if you are referring to me:
- I'm not egoist in any mean cause i use to help a lot of people here and in other forums.(check around...)
- I can´t be egomaniac cause i'm small (5´6) and my name is not Napoleon (a true small egomaniac) :D
PEACE ;)

abs are just like every other muscle, the need time to rest, recover and grow. i do all muscle groups on a 4 day rotation.

I'm not familar with your original post but at my board you are certainly open to post YOUR opinion,,,whether it works for someone else is another thing. I've found my abs look better trained more frequently.

To post one opinion personal about how good is the weather is one thing...
...BUT to post "advices" you can lead a newbie to health damage or HUGE lost in goals is another thing.
In the second case i'll always reply with the HARD TRUTH!

you were so 'rudely criticized' as your said because in your previous post, in another thread, you said, and i quote, ""You must exercise your abs 6 days a week. I don't give a damn what anyone says about this. Hit the abs 6 days a week! Do it!!!" you brought this criticism upon yourself. on this board, we strive to work together to help people to achieve the best results possible, we don't say to people, ONLY LISTEN TO ME, I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS, which is exactly what you did. furthermore, there are professionals on this board, who seem to have a lot more knowledge than you, personally, i have a masters in exercise physiology and a B.S. in chemistry. others here are doctors, personal trainers, body builders and strongmen. why would you want to come to a board that didn't have experts? would you prefer to make life changing body decisions on the speculations of amateurs?? oh and by the way, nobody ever criticized you or said you were dumb, i simply said that as a general rule of thumb in the world of sports and exercise, NEVER LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS THEIR WAY IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO SOMETHING, WHICH IS WHAT YOU DID.

If you want ill do you a favor and buy you some tampons. Till then suck it the fuck up, people wont always agree with you. Thats life.

If you did work abs 6days/week, would you not burn more fat around your abdominal area, as opposed to doing cardio 6d/week?

no such thing as spot reduction. you will burn fat from wherever your body is genetically pre-disposed to burn it from. If you build up your abs under fat, you will just look even more fat.
Abs like any muscle need recovery time. If you work out properly you will rarely have to work them at all in most cases. I would say a max of 3 times a week is the most I have ever done. Now or days I do a core day once a week.

what would be an ideal weekly ab workout. I usually do them around 4 times/week, sets of 15 reps, 12-15 sets. Would you change anything here?

Most PROS will say dont bother with abs, You work them while your working other body parts, Why would a body builder put so much time in to making his or her mid section larger? If you dont like a V shape then by all means work the sh1t out of your abs. Now if you want the V shape and smaller waist focus more on getting rid of the fat deposits not ab muscle size.
Most people will say not to, but I work out my abs 4-5 times a week and I am happy with the results. It seems to work pretty well for me. To each his own though

OK what part of my post didnt you understand? I stated clearly YOU WORK YOUR ABS WHILE TRAINING MOST OTHER BODY PARTS (in other words).
Ill quote a well know and respected pro, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHY IS ANYONE ON HERE WORKING THEIR ABS? WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO TARGET THEM SPECIFICALLY? DO THEY NOT REALIZE THAT THE ABS CONTRACT DURING EVERY EXERCISE? DO YOU NOT WANT YOUR WAIST SMALL? that phill hernon on PM a few days ago, I never said I dont do abs the fact is I do, But not that often 1 time a week.
